A Welcome to Former Members of Tumblr

A Welcome to Tumblrs.

A SteemIt Guide for Tumblrs

It appears to be that Tumblr has jumped on the censorship bandwagon and has started censoring and purging accounts. I've been using tumblr for the last few years. I've created several tumblrs that reblog images from the Mountain West: Arizona, Colorado, Utah (Moab) and Wyoming.

In this last year I've been using SteemIt (This is my account as it appears on busy.)

SteemIt is a social media platform built on a blockchain. The system rewards people who post to the system with tokens using the crypto-currency STEEM. You can sell STEEM on the open market and thus make money via your blog.

A blockchain is an encrypted database that is hosted on a distributed network. The accounts that host the site are called "witnesses." There are multiple sites that interface with the SteemIt blockchain including busy.org or the Partiko App. There are additional groups that develop programs that work with the STEEM blockchain including musing.io and SteemMonsters which is a role playing game like Magic.

Tumblr is a centralized platform. SteemIt is a decentralized platform.

The fact that there are different web sites that interface with the blockchain is a bit confusing.

The site SteemD.com was created by the Steem Developers. It simply shows raw transactions on the blockchain. If you go to the link https://steemd.com/@example (replacing "example" with an account name); you can see all of the transactions for that site.

One of the most important sites is SteemConnect. SteemConnect handles authentication for the Steem blockchain. You will want to give SteemConnect.com your "private posting key" found on your permissions page. SteemConnect will then allow you to login to all of these different services.

The SteemIt Wallet

SteemIt is built around a crypto-currency called STEEM. Every account has a wallet. The amount of STEEM POWER in your account affects the way your account behaves.

If you received a free account; the system will delegate 15 STEEM POWER to your account so that it functions.

STEEM POWER determines the amount of resources you have for your account and it affects the value of your upvote.

15 STEEM POWER allows you to write about 2 posts a day. The value of your upvote is worth less than a tenth of a penny.

To be honest. If you don't have sufficient STEEM POWER your account doesn't work all that well. The best solution is to buy some STEEM POWER.

STEEM is a crypto-currency. When I joined the price was $5.00. I thought that was absurdly high. I did not buy any. The price has since fallen to $0.25.

I got really tired all at once. I will be writing more tomorrow. press to refresh.
